P5 post-production processes

Adobe premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes video editing, graphic design, and web development programs.

The post-production process involves collecting all of the footage and audio, editing it all together into a complete project, and applying effects and transitions to make it look complete and good. My document was set up the following way:

First of all,I create a folder to save all my work.Secondly,I created a new sequence with 1080p24 quality and made sure the capture format is HDV.

Logging rushes / Creating edit decision list

The shot list would help me to select the shot which is the most important and the story board would tell me what is the step of the filming. For example,I need to start with the boy running on the track and edit it and then go to the next step which is the bus station part.It help me to have a clear order of these shot and always tell me what to do next. It's a very useful tool.

This is the folder that I save all the materials,in this folder,I created 4 different to save different shots differentiated by 4 locations. Then I go to each folders select the video which I'm going to use.And I mark them and rename them.

Logging rushes involves uploading all of the video and audio of a project and then renaming each file so that it is easily recognizable for editing. The edit decision list involves cutting out unnecessary video and audio that won’t make it in to the final project. Sometimes, when planning a project, the writer imagines more scenes then are actually needed. It can be shortened in editing through cutting scenes without compromising continuity.

I renamed the shots that I need to edit the video. The rename process is simple but very helpful in the editing process because I can find the shot which I want much quicker and easier for me to change. It benefit for me to save time and improve the quality of the video.

Producing and reviewing an off line edit

After the decision and selection,I start to put the shot into this project.

At the top part, this is the tool sets. The first tool is called selected tool, which allows  me to import and select my videos. The 6th tool is called razor tool,it would allow me to cut down the video and change the length of the videos. The second last tool is called hand tool,it allows me to drag and move the videos on the track.

Producing an offline edit means to put all of the raw footage in the order that they will appear in the final project. This happens before effects and transitions are added to any of the scenes. Reference is made to the original storyboard to piece everything together. This sets up the film to be ready for editing.

Here I have included some screenshots of the editing timeline. From these examples it is possible to see how the project is constructed.

Applying Visual and Audio Effects

For an advertisement video,I decided to control the time between 1:30 to 2:00 would be perfect, the for I speed up many shots. For example, the running part and cars moving on the street (front of bus station) this would short the time to reduce the cost and make sure when people watch it,they always focus most with the main project (Ferrero Chocolate).

For example, this short was costing 34:07 sec to play and after 500% speed up and only cost 6:20 sec.Otherwise,if I didn't speed up the shorts like this, firstly the viewer would think this is boring and won't focus on the main product (Ferrero Chocolate) and secondly the cost would increase (longer time longer cost).

Purpose and meaning of applying visual effects

In filmmaking, visual effects (abbreviated VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and / or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot.

Visual effects involve the integration of live-action footage and generated imagery to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, expensive, impractical, or simply impossible to capture on film. Visual effects using computer generated imagery have recently become accessible to the independent filmmaker with the introduction of affordable and easy-to-use animation and compositing software.

Visual effects are often integral to a movie's story and appeal. Although most visual effects work is completed during post-production, it usually must be carefully planned and choreographed in pre-production and production. Visual effects primarily executed in Post-Production with the use of multiple tools and technologies such as graphic design, modeling, animation and similar software, while special effects such as explosions and car chases are made on set.

Visual and audio effects can help enhance the beauty of a film as well as help to tell the story better by adding elements you can’t just record in real life. They can also help correct any mistakes that were made in the process of recording video and audio.

Linking audio to visuals and applying audio effects

I muted all the sound from original sound because I didn't give anything for actor to say out.And I added the background music which I already downloaded and put it into Audio Channel 3.

I added a lowpass to the first music track. This effect would allow the song sounds more suitable as a starter.

The meaning and purpose of Audio

Audio is sound within the acoustic range available to humans. An audio frequency (AF) is an electrical alternating current within the 20 to 20,000 hertz (cycles per second) range that can be used to produce acoustic sound. In computers, audio is the sound system that comes with or can be added to a computer. An audio card contains a special built-in processor and memory for processing audio files and sending them to speakers in the computer. An audio file is a record of captured sound that can be played back. Sound is a sequence of naturally analog signals that are converted to digital signals by the audio card, using a microchip called an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). When sound is played, the digital signals are sent to the speakers where they are converted back to analog signals that generate varied sound.

Audio files are usually compressed for storage or faster transmission Audio files can be sent in short stand-alone segments -.. For example, as files in the Wave file format In order for users to receive sound in real-time for a multimedia effect, listening to music, or in order to take part in an audio or video conference, sound must be delivered as streaming sound. More advanced audio cards support wavetable, or precaptured tables of sound. The most popular audio file format today is MP3

The boy was running and far and far,and the screen become blurry and then the trees come out.

For these shots, I added additive dissolve effect between these videos, which allows the viewer notice that they are going to the next location (court part was going to finish and the street part should begin). This would make the videos more interesting and attractive.

I used the same effect again which linked the bus station part with the street part.Between these two part,I used a shot of taking the sun and trees to make a transition effect. At the end of the trees and sun short,we can see the trees become blurry and a boy comes out.

When I edit the street part (the girl was following the boy behind) I used a color correction effect.I only used the effect when the boy was having a close shot. This is because I want to prominent the innermost thoughts in this boy's mind.(He was happy about the girl and he was nervous, because he didn't know how to say he likes the girl as well in words,he was thinking and considering how to turn around and face the girl.)

I believe this effect would be perfectly suitable to put here to show the mind of the boy thinking and make the video much more interesting.

For the end of this video,I added a dissolve (dip to black) effect to finish. This is the final location at the street. After the boy give back Ferro Chocolate to the girl. With the time going on,the screen became dark and dark till whole black. This is the ending of this video, this effect would allow viewer to have a think what will have next which means would allow people to have a space to do their own thinking for this story with Ferro Chocolate.

Finally,I added the text into this video.

I added the text to apply the Chinese letter (translate),and I rotated it to the same angle.

There are many different styles of text format to choose.

I found the advertisement sentence from the official website and I used it to do the text to apply the Ferrero advertisement video.

I selected the gold color to put at the end of this video. This applied same style from the Ferrero Rocher logo.
